South Of Heaven Open Air focuses on a rock-solid program (internationally celebrated metal veterans as headliners, plus new talent), an old-school great metal atmosphere (intimate and authentic; metal fans among themselves), a conveniently accessible and atmospheric top location, Burgundian enjoyment (delicious food and drink), and a relatively low ticket price (€130 for an Early Bird combo ticket).

Despite the crowded Dutch event calendar, South Of Heaven Open Air is a welcome addition because this festival primarily focuses on music, an excellent atmosphere, and haute cuisine food & drink, instead of pretentious sidelines like science, politics, literature, interactive art, and abstract theater.

LOCATION: GASHOUDER MAASTRICHT Just a fifteen-minute walk from the center of Maastricht lies the rugged yet atmospheric Bosscherveld area, with the iconic Gashouder as its centerpiece, the last remaining of the seven gas holders that once stood in Maastricht. This monumental site fits perfectly with the look & feel of a metal festival and is easily accessible by bike, public transport, and car (easy parking!) – even from Germany and Belgium. The striking Gashouder has a diameter of 43 meters, a height of 16 meters, and a floor area of 1,500 m² (allowing 50,000 m³ of gas to be stored). A balustrade runs along the edge of the flat roof. The sheet steel building stands out with its light green color.

TICKETS As mentioned, the organization of South Of Heaven Open Air aims to be financially accessible for metal and related music lovers from home and abroad. Early Bird combo tickets (access for both days) therefore cost €130 each (including service fees).

Muziekgieterij Maastricht

Muziekgieterij Maastricht is one of the youngest music venues in the Netherlands. Founded in 2004, it grew in less than 20 years into the live trendsetter of the south and the Euregio. Muziekgieterij has a great passion for music and is a popular meeting place for musicians and the public. Doomstar Bookings, founded in 2009, specializes in booking (extreme) rock, metal, hardcore, punk, roots, and related styles. With an extensive and high-quality roster, Doomstar Bookings is one of the leading (and fastest-growing) European booking offices today, responsible for over 100 international artists and bands. Additionally, Doomstar Bookings also produces concerts and festivals and provides transportation, tour management, backline, crew, and merchandise for bands and artists.

Tribute Agency

The Tribute Agency – self-proclaimed ‘The Hardest Rocking Tribute Agency In The World’ – mainly plays ‘heavy’ music through its office speakers. TTA is the largest tribute agency in Europe, offering a wide spectrum of different music styles from tribute bands across Europe and even America. Additionally, the company also (co-)organizes many concerts, festivals, and parties, resulting in hundreds of beautiful and highly successful events.
